Staff Developer, OCALI

Dec. 2024 — Sept. 2026

  • Continued advancing development expertise through various projects. Examples include: worked with Livewire and Alpine JS to create new, interactive UIs, integrated bookmarking and added new filter sets to an implementation of Algolia search, and refactored a jQuery-based website menu to allow for keyboard navigation.
  • Helped train Junior Developers on how to handle support messages by going over existing documentation, giving general training and advice, and troubleshooting through requests and questions that were new to them.
  • Worked with Junior and Staff Developers through the pull request (PR) process. Including feedback / improvement cycles, pairing sessions, and code reviews. Then, deploying if / when PRs fell below a certain technical threshold.
  • Advised Junior Developers on the file locations and inner-workings of system features as well as CMS requirements and strategies to design / develop content in it.
  • Regularly worked with Content Manager to ensure branding standards were met across projects and helped strategize when stakeholder requests conflicted.

Web Developer, OCALI

July 2024 — Dec. 2024

  • Built infrastructure features across contracts. Examples include: created an Enum for video services and generalized the related functionality and combing through the CMS admin to reduce and simplify database queries.
  • Advanced / remediated work done by Tighten’s team post-fulfillment. For example: ensuring a new search service aligned with related CMS settings and functionality as well as implementing improvements for load times and bulk data transfers.
  • Worked with Agency Labs in a similar capacity to what was done with Tighten. For example: reviewing new functionality related to a bookmarking and sharing feature.
  • Transitioned most design and content work to new hires by conducting trainings and advising them on current processes and where resources were located.
  • Reviewed resumes and helped conduct interviews for new staff. Positions included: Content Manager (initially Graphic Designer), Project Manager, and Junior Developers.
  • Helped integrate Trello into development workflows by utilizing different boards for contracts and columns for portions of the process.

Junior Developer, OCALI

June 2023 — July 2024

  • Built system-level and command-based projects that ranged from consolidating components into a standardized format to creating database seeders.
  • Advised product owners on what potential new content types were feasible to make and might be useful in terms of instructional design for the CMS.
  • Reviewed development work submitted by Tighten on a contractual basis. Projects ranged from new, interactive UIs to integrating a widget service.
  • Integrated Teamwork into the time tracking workflow to replace the spreadsheet system.
  • Helped facilitate the transition the bulk of document accessibility work to other members of the accessibility team.

Web Editor & Designer, OCALI

Sept. 2020 — June 2023

  • Designed and built UI elements and landing pages for various projects. This included finding creative ways to add content styling into the company’s CMS, banners and callouts, and fully custom pages.
  • Worked with stakeholders to scope projects, estimate timelines, advise them on what can and can’t feasibly be done, and schedule meetings for project review and demos.
  • Assisted with shifting marketing and communications work to individual departments as well as reviewed resumes for a new hire to take over the remaining core work.
  • Helped with time estimates and scheduling for upcoming projects and to organize workflows.
  • Created and managed an Excel spreadsheet to track member reported contract hours and give various breakdowns on the data.
  • Created documentation for what the CMS requires from and can do with content and put together suggested workflows for delivering and promoting posted content.
  • Helped integrate WCAG guidelines into development workflows by keeping structures simple and ensuring interactive elements were readable and navigable by keyboard users.
  • Built new / basic features and made edits, changes, and adjustments to the company’s Laravel-based CMS and the sites that it houses.

Web Content Assistant, OCALI

July 2018 — Sept. 2020

  • Converted scores of content projects from clients’ Word documents into HTML and posted the material to sites.
  • Created design elements and materials for various print and digital products as well as web assets for postings on the website.
  • Handled technical support messages such as password resets, reported errors on websites, and requests for where to find postings or events and acted as a switchboard to direct users to other team members.
  • Remediated the following document sets for accessibility: Ohio Learning Standards, previously posted Autism Internet Modules (AIM) & AT Internet Modules (ATIM) PDFs, and new documents prior to posting.
  • Attended planning meetings for the organization’s accessibility goals and work schedules while completing WCAG trainings.
  • Reviewed material for internal accessibility / communication guides for readability and accuracy and made suggestions for additions.
  • Created posts in Hootsuite and scheduled posting across platforms by working off documentation left by the Social Media Manager.
  • Attended meetings and made suggestions for campaigns as part of the Marketing and Communications team.

Helped students with technical problems such as troubleshooting Adobe products while usinglab computers and working on school projects. Kept the lab computers clean.

Maintained the lab and assisted students with troubleshooting. Ensured the lab never ran out of chemicals and ran smoothly.

Eagle Scout

Feb 2010

In February of 2010, I obtained the rank of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America. This was after a great number of adventures, leadership roles, and community-focused projects.
